near death experience on his first attempt, Zed Al Refai scaled
the peak on his second try. He describes his successful assault
on the world's highest mountain.

In 2001 Mr. Al Refai made his first
assault on Everest. It failed, he contracted cerebral amaemia and
was left in a coma for three days. This year he tried again and became
the first Arab to reach the summit of the mountain. |

and triumph, leisure & discomfort, health & illness, loneliness
